Referral Offer Questions

How do I get 6 months free on Interactive Investor?

Use a referral link on this page to open a new ii account. Open an eligible account (ISA, SIPP, or Trading Account), fund it with at least £5,000 within 12 months, and your monthly platform fee is waived for 6 months. On Core plan you save £35.94, on Plus plan you save £89.94.

How much do I need to deposit to qualify?

You need to deposit or transfer at least £5,000 into your new ii account within 12 months of opening it. This applies to ISA, SIPP, and Trading Accounts.

Does the referrer get anything?

Yes. When a friend signs up via a referral link and deposits £5,000+, the referrer gets £200 cashback paid into their ii Trading Account. There's no limit to how many friends you can refer.

Does the referral offer have an expiry date?

The referral program itself has no announced expiry date. You need to use a valid referral link when opening your account, and fund with £5,000+ within 12 months. The 6-month free period activates once you qualify.

Summer Offer Questions

What is the current summer offer?

New customers can choose: £100–£3,000 cashback when opening a new SIPP (tiered by transfer/deposit amount), or £150 in free trades when opening a new ISA or Trading Account. This ends 30 September 2026 and can be stacked with the 6-month free referral offer.

Can I get both the referral offer and summer cashback?

Yes — they are separate promotions that stack, but the order matters. The account you want the Summer bonus on must be your first ii account, opened via a referral link between 1 August and 30 September 2026 — opening an ISA or Trading Account first, then a SIPP later, disqualifies you from the SIPP cashback (ii requires the SIPP to be your first account). For the SIPP cashback you must also move or deposit £20,000+, add a linked Trading Account within 6 months of 30 September 2026 (the cashback is paid into that Trading Account), and keep the pension open for 12 months.

What happens after the 6 months free period ends?

Your normal monthly platform fee applies automatically — £5.99/month on Core (portfolios up to £100,000) or £14.99/month on Plus (above £100,000). There is no exit fee, so you can switch away at any time.

Is Interactive Investor worth it in 2026 — who should switch?

ii is worth it if you hold funds or ETFs above ~£20,600 (Core plan) — its flat fee beats Hargreaves Lansdown's 0.35% and most percentage-based platforms, with no exit fees. It is also strong for SIPP drawdown (no hidden charges) and family accounts on Plus/Premium. If you hold only individual shares, HL (capped £150/yr) and AJ Bell (capped £42/yr ISA) are cheaper at any size, and Vanguard is cheaper below ~£10,000.

What happened to the old £3,000 transfer cashback?

The tiered transfer cashback offer (£100–£3,000) ended on 30 April 2026 and has not been renewed. The current Summer offer is a separate, smaller promotion.

Fees & Comparison Questions

Is Interactive Investor cheaper than Hargreaves Lansdown?

For portfolios above ~£20,600 holding funds or ETFs, yes. ii charges a flat fee (£5.99/mo Core up to £100,000, or £14.99/mo Plus above) while HL charges 0.35% on funds (after their March 2026 cut). On a £250,000 portfolio you'd pay £180/yr on ii vs £875/yr on HL — saving £695 annually. Below £20,600, HL is cheaper. See the full ii vs HL comparison.

Does ii charge trading fees on top of the monthly fee?

Yes. Regular investing is free, but one-off trades cost £3.99 per trade on Core and Plus plans. This is separate from the monthly platform fee. During your 6 months free period, trading fees still apply.

What are ii's monthly plan prices?

Core: £5.99/mo (£71.88/yr) for portfolios up to £100k. Plus: £14.99/mo (£179.88/yr) with no portfolio limit. Pension Builder: £12.99/mo (£155.88/yr). Premium: £39.99/mo for active traders (not eligible for referral free period).

Switching & Account Questions

How do I switch from Hargreaves Lansdown to ii?

Open an ii account using a referral link, then initiate an ISA or SIPP transfer from within your ii account. ii handles the process with HL. Most transfers complete within 2-6 weeks. You can transfer cash, funds, ETFs, and most listed shares. Check for any exit fees from HL before starting.

What accounts can I open with the referral link?

The referral offer applies to the account types listed as eligible in ii's referral terms: Stocks & Shares ISA, Personal Pension (SIPP), Trading Account, and Managed ISA. The 6-month fee-free period applies to the Core and Plus plans only (Premium is excluded). Managed SIPP, Junior ISA, and Company Accounts are not listed as eligible "ii Accounts" in ii's referral terms.

Is Interactive Investor regulated and safe?

Yes. Interactive Investor is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Customer assets are held in segregated accounts, separate from ii's own funds. Cash balances are protected by the FSCS up to £85,000. ii manages over £70 billion in customer assets.
